Reluctantly he came toward her. He was barely a foot away when she seized him by the front of his shirt, yanking him toward her. Their faces were inches apart; he could see how the skin below her eyes shown with the marks of recent tears. “You know what I really need right now?” she said, enunciating each word clearly.
CP Interview Series: Mini Interview w/ Jessamine & Sophie
Our mini CP Interview Series wrapped up yesterday with an interview with Jessamine & Sophie.
What do you see in Nathaniel?
He is handsome, a good dancer, and shall be wealthy some day. And he knows how to pay a compliment.
What’s your favorite color dress to wear when your going out?
I always look lovely in white.
What do you admire about Tessa?
It is as the poet Tennyson said: Kind hearts are more than coronets. She may not have been born a gentlewoman but she strives to be kind.
As mothers who clean a lot, we were wondering who you despise cleaning up after the most?
Will. He is dreadful and always puts his boots on the bed.
Thank you to Jessamine and Sophie for stopping by today. You can read our interviews with Charlotte & Henry, Will, Jem, Tessa, Mangus, and Cassandra Clare here.
The Jessamine image was found here and I unfortunately didn’t find any drawings of Sophie. (sniff, sniff).
I am SO EXCITED to post our interview with Cassie today!!! I’ve had this interview for a few weeks now and I wanted to wait for the right moment to post, and what’s more fitting then the week of Clockwork Prince’s release.
There is so much that happens in this book emotionally. How do you separate yourself emotionally from some of the harder scenes?
Well, you do and you don’t. You want to feel the emotions the characters feel so you can channel them onto the page. At the same time you don’t want to be a crying mess, because then you can’t write! I would say it’s a matter of going over those scenes over and over and over and over again. The first drafts will be rough and emotional, but you want to whittle that emotion down, fine-tune it. Sometimes the sparest word or description can carry a wealth of meaning.
Are you able to give us the page number of the scene that made you cry while writing it?
Page 469 in my copy!
Magnus is one of my most favorite characters from both the TMI and ID series. Which time period do you enjoy writing him in?
I love him in both. In ID he’s a little younger, more idealistic. He believes he can save people, Will particularly. In TMI I have always felt like he was coming out of a long period of pessimism and self-distraction with his relationship with Alec. Both are fun to write.
5 stars to Cassie Clare's Clockwork Prince *spoiler free review*
To wrap up our Clockwork Prince release day celebrations I wanted to share my review, which I know might seem silly to post again, since I posted it here weeks ago. This is truly such a fabulous read! Cassie is a brilliant author who knows how to create a world that makes you feel like you’re apart of it. She creates characters that you fall in love with and she’s not afraid to rip your heart out, break into a million pieces and piece it back together again, nor is she afraid to make her characters suffer in ways that pulls your into their stories emotionally. Cassie does all this an more with Clockwork Prince. You can read my original 5 stars here

31 Days of CP, Day 31: Our Mini Interview w/ Jem & Will
It’s day 31 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince!! I can not believe that the release day is finally here! It’s been such a blast counting down the days with everyone with our CA read along and then our 31 Days of CP!
For each of Cassie’s upcoming releases we are going to be hosting Read Alongs to count down to the release day. Be sure to stay turned for our next Read Along, CoFA. More info will be posted in the new year.
To celebrate CP’s release, we have both Jem and Will visiting with us today!! We were able to ask both of the guys a couple questions, and since not everyone has been able to read Clockwork Prince yet, we kept our questions for this interview spoiler free.
Have you ever been in love?
What do you admire about Tessa?
She sees the good in people. Despite the things she’s learned and the betrayals she’s experienced, she retains her kindness and her steadfast belief in human nature.
If you could take Will and Tessa to Shanghai, what’s the first place you’d want to show them?
Other than the Institute? The Long Bar in the Shanghai Club, on the Bund, perhaps.
Do you believe in love?
Oh, I believe in it.
We’re a little curious, what does Holy Water taste like?
Slightly dirty ordinary water, to be quite honest.
Why do you feel you can trust Magnus?
Perhaps because he doesn’t care? It is more that I have to trust him than that I want to.
Thank you to Jem & Will for joining us today! We hope those who have CP are enjoying reading about them.

31 Days of CP, Day 30: Character Interview w/ Charlotte & Henry
TOMORROW!!!! I can’t believe the release day if FINALLY tomorrow (if you’re living in the US). It’s day 30 of our 31 Days of CP Celebration and I’m seriously so excited about CP’s release TOMORROW. As I mentioned the other day, we’ve got a sweet line up of interviews with Cassie, and each of the main characters from Clockwork Prince. Some of these interview answers have spoilers in them, so I’m saving those for later in the week and even then I’m going to color code them so that when someone reads the post they’ll have to highlight the answer to read, so we don’t give anything away.
Today’s 1st interview series post is with Charlotte and Henry:
Henry & Charlotte:
What has been your greatest success in running the institute?
Keeping peace among the Conclave, and persuading them to put their faith in a young woman.
What’s your greatest worry?
Henry worries that he will blow something up, and Charlotte worries about letting down the Consul and her parents.
Charlotte- there’s so much that you are dealing with in CP, where do you find the strength to carry on?
Well, in the people around me, that I love and care for.
Henry- are you working on any new inventions you can tell us about?
I have an idea for a thing called a Portal that could transport Shadowhunters from one place to another, but it’s probably just a silly idea …
Thank you Charlotte and Henry for joining us today! Tomorrow we’ll have Jem on the blog!!
** Just a friendly reminder about CP spoilers, as fans we want to remind everyone to please be respectful to the fact that other countries won’t be releasing CP until the end of the month. Please be cautious about where your discuss CP. We don’t want to ruin it for any of the fans who haven’t had a chance to read CP yet.
It’s day 29 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince celebration, and you know what that means!?! We’re 2 days away from CP’s release!!!!! Today I thought I’d share with you guys 5 things you’ll find in CP. Don’t worry, this won’t be spoilery. :)
See, I told you I wasn’t spoiling anything. But, if you’d like to know 5 more things than continue reading…..
plenty of Hot Boys With Steles (that was for Sophie HBWS)
THE best kissy scene of 2011
I can’t wait for you guys to read my favorite book in all of 2011! If you loved CA, just wait till you read CP!
31 Days of CP, Day 28: Our Clockwork Prince Interview Series teaser
Today’s post are a couple of the *spoiler free* questions and answers with Cassie and a couple of the characters. I’ll post the complete Clockwork Prince interview series next week. Will even tells us what Holy water tastes like….
How was writing CP different than writing CA?
The first book in a series is always about getting to know the characters, introducing them, laying your groundwork, and it’s fun that way, but the second book allows you delve more deeply into their characters and backstories. The first book establishes a conflict, and the second carries it forward, and lets you start paying off some of what you set up.
* What is one quality you admire in Jem, Will and Magnus?
I admire Jem’s kindness, Will’s determination, and Magnus’ brilliance.
* What’s the most fabulous party you’ve ever attended?

It’s day 23 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince Celebrations and the last day of our one line teasers. Today’s teaser is between one of our favorite characters, Magnus and Tessa. This line is taking our of context and is from the middle of a conversation they’re having.
"And you will find that feelings fade too, the longer you live."
Happy Monday!! I’m seriously not ready to get back into the swing of things yet. The kids were off from school last week and it was so nice. There’s nothing like a little Jace from City of Bones to start our Monday’s off right…..
Clary stopped dead in her tracks. “Simon?”
"Oh, God," said Jace, sounding resigned. "And here I’d actually hoped I’d got hold of something interesting."

NEXT WEEK CP will be released!! I can not wait! It’s day 22 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince and we’re winding down our one line teasers. Next week we’ll have giveaways, interviews and a couple more teasers, leading up to a CP post you do NOT want to miss on Dec 6th!!
"One finds nobility in the oddest places…"
We’ve been getting a lot of great questions lately about where the best place to order a special edition of CP is. I’m going to list the different editions and where to purchase them at. Please let me know if you have any more questions about CP and where to order it at. I’d be more than happy to answer your questions.
Simon & Schuster has a link to ALL the retailers selling CP here. Not everyone on this list is selling the special edition. The cover of the book will say Special Edition on it. Please note, that all pre-orders will not arrive until the 6th or after that date.
Here’s a little information from a post I did HERE about the different editions:
The Barnes & Noble USA edition will have this + more. This edition will include what the 1st edition has PLUS an inscription from Will to Tessa in a copy of Tale of Two Cities. Once these sell out, they’re gone. This is ONLY offered through Barns & Noble. Here’s what it’s cover looks like: You can pre-order that HERE Walmart will also be carrying their own special edition which will have Jem’s story called Burning Bright. You can pre-order it HERE. *As far as I can tell, this is their edition, you may want to call them before placing your order, but that’s all I could find on their site.
Books of Wonder in NYC is taking pre-orders for CP. These copies will be sent out the day of publication!! They’re also giving away a poster (the shadowhunter poster) will supplies last w/ their pre-orders. Be sure to call them at 212-989-3270 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
Happy Saturday! We hope you guys have a had a wonderful Thanksgiving week so far. Today is day 21 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince Celebration. Enjoy!
"I don’t know how I could sleep at night, not knowing I was surrounded by a thousand other sleeping, dreaming souls."
Happy Day after Thanksgiving. I hope those who were out fighting the crowds last night didn’t have too much trouble getting the gifts they were looking for. It’s day 20 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince Celebrations! We’re getting down to the final few days… only 11 more days!
Here’s today’s teaser:
"Well, Will won’t need to create a new religion just to be rid of me,"
I can’t believe it’s already Day 19 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince! That’s so exciting that we don’t have much longer to wait! If you’ve haven’t already, you still have time to pre-order your copy of Clockwork Prince from Books Of Wonder!! This will be for a signed copy and included with that is a gift (the shadowhunter poster), while supplies last. Call them, and they will ship the book after it’s release!!
Today’s quote is a fun one. Who do you think said this,
"I was in Paris, having some new dresses fitted"
I’ll give you a clue of who is not speaking… Church, Jem, and Will ;D
Only two weeks until CP is out! in response to the different questions I’ve been receiving about CP, I created a post that helps explain who’s selling what editions and where. I’ve also included the information about what countries will be receiving what editions.
Clockwork Prince orders, different edition & more here
You can pre-order Clockwork Prince from any of these retailers here.
It’s day 15 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince, which means we’re about half done and that much closer to the release date!!! We’re continuing with our one liner teasers from CP. Each one line teaser is taking completely out of context. We won’t be revealing which character we quoted nor will be listing any page numbers. It’s fun to see which character you guys think is talking.
"Every night I lay here on your sofa and I waited to hear your step in the hall, and I wondered where you were"
It’s day 13 of our 31 Days of Clockwork Prince! That means it’s that much closer to CP being released!! I am so excited about some upcoming posts we have planned for you guys! Today is the first in a line of fun teasers we’ll be posting that are not only taken out of context, but some of them will be harder to figure out who’s talking. I won’t list any character names or pages numbers. If I had to guess who was talking with most of these quotes, I’d totally get them wrong.
It’s day 12 of our 31 Days of CP Celebration and today we wanted to feature some of the CP fan art pieces we’ve found and fallen in love with. We’re constantly impressed with all the fabulous TMI and ID artists that have created some fabulous pieces, some of which we’ve shared via our Mundane Mondays here on the blog. Here’s 3 of our current favorite CP pieces.
